Curious about the world premier of Sunset by Mike Backman that I'm currently working on at Shaker Bridge Theatre? Check out the little chat we had on "A Closer Look." The director, playwright, and some of the cast members are present and we dive into ideas the play deals with and what we'd like the audience to walk away with from our production. Give it a peep!
For the next few weeks I'll be rehearsing the world premier of Sunset by Mike Backman at Shaker Bridge Theatre. This play tells the story of a couple of Mormon missionaries as they struggle to find self expression and personal truth in a world full of rules and expectations. You don't want to miss it folks! We open May 3 so get your tickets and make your way out here to New Hampshire! Click the banner at the top of the page for ticket info.
Hey folks tomorrow night at 9pm EST catch my episode "Hate and Fury" on ID Discovery Channel's show Pandora's Box. I'll be portraying Matthew Williams as we tell the story of his spree of hatred. This one isn't to be missed.
2018 is starting off with a bang! We just started rehearsals for my first production in the city. I'll be playing Matt in the upcoming production of Dog Sees God at Matthew Corozine Studio Theatre. The business side of me says, "Great. Keep up the good work. You're on the right track." But there's also an excited little boy inside screaming, "Haulston! You are an ACTOR in a PLAY in NEW YORK CITY! You're doing it! You're really doing it!" Click the announcement banner at the top of the page for info on tickets!
What a happy day! I've been nominated for Best Actor in a Play in the 2017 Broadway World Regional Awards for my performance of Axel Fersen in David Adjmi's Marie Antoinette at freeFall theatre in St. Petersburg, FL.

I'm so very excited to announce my new partnership with Tsu Tsu Stanton of Tsu TsuUnlimited! The thing that lights me up the most about working with Tsu Tsu is her obvious investment in her clients. It's a nurturing relationship that fosters the growth of an artist and I can't wait to see what we can accomplish together!
There was no end to the fun we had on set making this powerful film! It holds a special place in my heart because it was the last project I worked on before leaving Dallas. What a wonderful cherry placed on the top of my Dallas years, right?? Give the trailer a peep and while you're at it go ahead and order yourself a copy! Congratulations Rafael, LaRonn, Kat, Mike, Brandi, Karate Dave, and to the rest of the team! I'm grateful to have worked with all you. Until the next one!
A couple of huge developments came about this week! I moved to New York City and I became a card carrying member of Actors' Equity Association. These were accomplishments that I would daydream about back when I was 18 and working as an intern in summer stock Shakespeare. I even played with the idea of living in New York as early as 16 years old when I was dragged into an audition for my first theatre production (High School Musical. ..Can you guess which one is me?....Second row from the front, Second from the left. Yup the one with the hair.) I'm excited to be taking my career to the next level. There's a lot of work to be done, but I'm ready for it!
It's opening night of David Adjmi's Marie Antoinette out in St. Petersburg, Florida at freeFall Theatre Company where I'm playing Axel Fersen! I have to give a "big thank you" to the director of the show and freeFall's artistic director Eric Davis for putting so much faith in me and bringing me in with a very limited number of rehearsals. It's been a whirlwind, but I think we've got a great production! Don't miss out on it! 7/15-8/13!
Last night we opened The Three Musketeers at Missouri Tent Theatre to a sold out audience and a sold out run! What a gift it is to be in a community that appreciates and supports the arts! Here's to 7 more nights of fun and fights!
Hey here is some exciting news! So my time here in Dallas is quickly coming to an end as June approaches, but before I move out to New York I've got some STELLAR productions that I'm get to be a part of and since the paper work is signed I wanted to share it with all of you who didn't already know!
June 29 - July 7 I'll be in Springfield, MO armed with a sword and a plethora of punchlines as I play Porthos in Missouri Tent Theatre's production of The Three Musketeers. After closing I'll immediately fly out to St. Petersburg, FL to play Axel Fersen in David Adjmi's Marie Antoinette with freeFall Theatre Company running July 14-August 13. If you've never read this script, give it a peep sometime! It's a contemporary-ish historical period piece-ish production with beautiful imagery in the language and the dialogue relies heavily on rhythms which I'm sure will be a BLAST to perform.
I'm excited, I'm thankful, and I'm ready to buckle in for the adventure ahead!
Hey here's some very cool news! I just wrapped on playing Frank in a new feature length film currently titled Crossroads of Hunter Wilde. It stars and was directed by Mike Norris and let me tell you something, that man sure knows how to make a great atmosphere to play in! It was an honor to share the set with him and the rest of that killer cast! Keep an eye out for it kids!
I'm excited to say that I have been given the awesome opportunity to play The Lover in PrismCo Movement Theatre's remounted production of Bruises: Animal vs Machine! The original production is to this day one of my favorite shows I've seen since moving to Dallas so it's a huge honor to be a part of the remount. Oh, and the tickets are FREE so go get 'em before we sell out! prismco.org
January and February brought a ton of fun with them as I traveled to San Antonio, TX to choreograph the violence for Reagan High School's production of West Side Story. A couple of weeks later it was off to Abilene, TX where I had the pleasure of picking a rapier back up and choreographing the fights in Hardin-Simmons University's production of All the World's a Grave. I was also elated to teach a workshop for HSU's theatre department on intro to rapier for the stage. I feel like a very lucky guy to get the opportunity to work with so many hungry and passionate students!
I had a wonderful time traveling up to Wichita, KS on December 2nd & 3rd and working with some of the talented students at Wichita East High School and The Amy Menas Voice Studio. We played around with the Michael Chekhov Technique and really engaged with the audition material that they brought in! I always have a ton of fun sharing this technique with students! If your interested in booking me for a workshop or a private coaching session, hop over to the contact page and let me know. Let's get you reengaged with your imagination!
